We are a congregation firmly committed to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but instead of insisting on any single interpretation we invite each other to share his or her own faith and spirituality so that the whole body may be nurtured mutually.

We are an Open and Affirming congregation welcoming persons of any age, race, sexual orientation, nationality, economic circumstance, or physical or mental ability.  "God accepts all the people...so do we."

Worship Services begin at 10 a.m . Holy Communion is celebrated on the 1st Sunday of every month. Children begin the morning in the sanctuary with their families and after the Children's Message they go with their teachers to Sunday School. Infant/toddler care provided every week.

Easter Baskets for Covenant to Care

Easter is around the corner and the children in the care of our Covenant to Care social workers look forward to a basket full of Easter treats, toys or books.  Our social worker has identified 30 kids who would benefit from our thoughtful gifts.  Sign-up sheets will be available during Fellowship Hour (and in the entryway during the week) starting March 1 and baskets will be due by Palm Sunday, March 29th.  There is a page with helpful suggestions for non-food items like bath toys, art supplies, books, yo-yo, seed packets, Frisbee, stickers, etc.  Also, consider filling a reusable container or bin instead of a basket.  We appreciate all the SGC members and friends who give so generously and lend a helping hand in our community.  For information please contact Diane Hirsch

"Philomena" Movie Night & Discussion - March 10

One of the adult Christian education options this Lent is a Movie Night.   This will be held on Tuesday, March 10th. A pizza and salad dinner will be served, beginning at 6:00 pm. The movie to be shown is "Philomena."   Released in 2013, Philomena is based on the true story of a woman, forced to give up her child at a young age, and her never-ending efforts to find him and be reconciled.   As the story unfolds between Philomena and Martin Sixsmith, the journalist who assists her in this effort while preparing to tell her story, we see how the faithful respond in a variety of ways.

The film is rated PG-13 with notations that there is strong language, thematic elements and sexual references. If you are planning to come, please RSVP on the sign-up sheet in the church lobby or call the church office.

Christian Community Action Food Drive (March 1 through April 5)

In support of one of our Partners in Service, Christian Community Action (CCA), we will once again be hosting a Lenten food drive to help CCA, this year part of their own local Anti-Hunger Challenge. CCA will recognize the top three congregations collecting the most food. So, let’s do Spring Glen proud and fill the box over and over again from now until Easter Sunday. Please place your items in the Feeding the Community Food Box in the entry way.

Items most needed:
  • Bags of rice and beans (red or black)
  • Boxes of pasta
  • Canned fish, fruits, meats and vegetables; peanut butter
  • Cans (no glass, please) of pasta sauce/gravy/juice
  • Potatoes/yams
  • Low-sugar cereals/low-sodium soups
  • Dessert items – Jello, pudding mixes, etc.
We can so do this! Thanks in advance for your generosity.
